University of the Fraser Valley

Workshops
We offered two free workshops hosted by two of our featured authors, andrea bennett and Ali Blythe. The workshops were held at the same time, 1:30PM on November 4th, so registrants had to pick just one to attend. I emailed both the authors running the workshops to give us a blurb to include with the workshop signup form.
This form is accessible on the Fraser Valley Writers Festival website where community members, students and faculty were able to sign up. Unfortunately, the content of both workshops were for the eyes of the registrants only, but below you will find the titles of the workshops, the descriptions of them included in the sign up form, and lastly some pictures from the workshops on the day of the festival!
Publish Your Story
"Publish Your Story" with andrea bennett: What are editors looking for when you pitch non-fiction, or submit fiction, memoir or poetry to magazines? Join National Magazine Award-winning writer and Tyee senior editor, andrea bennett, for a session on how to increase your odds of success when pitching and submitting.
Break & Enter
"Break & Enter" with Ali Blythe: Explore a new form in which you break open and deeply enter another poet’s poem with your own thinking, being, poetics and relational ethics. Each participant will bring five loved poems by other poets, and will leave with a new poem and perhaps a spark for a new collection.
